How Darknet Transactions Happen

To test how a darknet transaction goes, the researchers placed an order for a dose of vaccine from a supplier using the Telegram app for interaction. They obtained the supplier's contact details and phone number through a darknet forum, which offered a supposed vaccine of Chinese origin for $ 750.

Payment was made in Bitcoin, which makes it difficult to track suppliers. The researchers then provided a shipping address and requested the shipping details. After a few days of no response, they received a message from the supplier saying that the vaccine had been sent to the address indicated. The alleged medication never arrived and the supplier's account was deleted shortly after the transaction.

Darknet market growth

From the latest survey, Check Point researchers found that several suppliers claim to offer doses of vaccine in “bulk”, not just single doses. This may indicate, according to the researchers, the growth of a clandestine market that aims to attract those who can afford to buy large quantities of vaccines for their family and friends, without waiting for official vaccination programs.

The concerns and fears about the current second wave of infections are such that vaccines could be imported and exported, bypassing regulations, and sold in a parallel market. Jonathan Cushing of Transparency International, an anti-corruption watchdog organization, issued a similar warning in November.

The Juniper network engineers center on providing high-availability network structure to withstand the online and on-site information technology happenings of users and clients.

One of the suppliers with whom the researchers communicated said he was able to sell an order for 10,000 vials, enough for 5,000 people (each vaccine must be delivered in two doses, 21 days apart). Due to the size of the shipment, the supplier suggested shipping it from three to four different shipments, for a total price of $ 30,000.

Check Point researchers have identified a 400% jump in the number of fake vaccine ads. Prices also skyrocketed
